The Deal with Microneedling Therapy

Microneedling therapy is more commonly known as collagen induction therapy.  It is the process of using microneedles on a rotating barrel to penetrate the skin and cause it to produce greater amounts of collagen and elastin.  The end result is smooth and more elastic skin, free of blemishes, wrinkles or acne scars.  As the primary device used is the derma roller which is now commercially produced, it is a less costly alternative to laser surgeries and other invasive methods of skin rejuvenation.
Microneedling therapy banks on being able to activate the skin’s natural wound healing process with the needles causing micro puncture holes in the skin.  As the needles edges penetrate the epidermis, up to 200,000 micro pores are created, opening the skin up to better absorption of topical creams.  Despite having these tiny punctures, it has no healing time required as these are not actual wounds created on your skin.  The micro pores close within hours after application and you can continue to enjoy outdoor activities with smoother, more radiant skin.

This therapy can be used to target most common skin problems like dark spots, stretch marks, cellulite and scars caused by chicken pox, minor wounds and even major surgeries.  It also helps prevent hair loss and pore enlargement.  With proper care and caution, it can yield wonderful results when done at home.  If you experience any irritation or side effects though, it is best to consult your doctor.  When choosing to get into microneedling, make sure your derma roller is made of high quality microneedles to achieve the best results.
